Spawn plugs are small hardwood dowels inoculated with mushroom mycelium. Simply insert them into holes in healthy logs and seal with wax. With minimal care, mushrooms will grow within 6 months to 3 years, depending on the species, wood type, and conditions.
The inoculated logs can be placed outdoors in partial or full shade. They will need occasional watering.
