As Lyme disease continues to progress northward into Quebec and the Northeastern United States, staying vigilant during your outdoor excursions is more important than ever. Carried by the black-legged tick (Ixodes scapularis), this disease is transmitted through a painless bite but can lead to severe health complications if left untreated.

Quick Prevention Tips:

• Cover Up: Wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck your pants into your socks.

• Stay Centered: Stick to the middle of groomed trails to avoid tall grass.

• Repel: Use a repellent containing Picaridin (20%) or DEET (30%) for the best protection.

• Post-Hike Check: Shower immediately and run clothes through a hot dryer for 10 minutes.
