Schedule – Day 1: Evening Zoom Session
Join us for a two-day mushroom photography workshop led by Jean Després. On the first day, July 18, 2025, from 7-9 pm, we will kick off with a Zoom conference covering:
- Delving into the intimate world of mushrooms through close-up photography
- Making informed equipment choices
- Mastering depth of field
- Capturing light in the magical forest
- Finding the ideal angle and framing like a paparazzi
- Getting closer to reveal inner beauty
- Composing scenes with a Leonardo da Vinci touch
- Bringing out the star of the show
- Unveiling the secrets of white balance
Schedule – Day 2: Morning Field Trip into a Montreal Forest
On the second day, July 20, 2025, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, we will head into the forest for a hands-on excursion to apply the knowledge gained the night before. The field trip will take place in a Montreal forest accessible by public transit, with nearby parking. The meeting location will be shared on the Wednesday before the event.
Under the guidance of Jean Després, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Practice macro photography techniques in a natural setting
- Experiment with lighting and depth of field in real-world conditions
- Find the best angles and compositions for stunning mushroom shots
- Receive personalized advice and feedback on your photographs
This immersive experience will allow you to refine your skills and capture the hidden beauty of the fungal world!
Who is Jean Després ?
Jean Després is a mycologist and the author of the book "Champignons comestibles du Québec : les connaître, les déguster". Passionate about nature, he shares his knowledge through workshops and conferences on mushrooms and photography.
Please inform us of any personal health issues that could pose a risk while walking in the forest. The excursions are not suitable for people under 12 and require a certain level of physical fitness. Dogs are not allowed.
